AVIA – a provider-led accelerator that puts the power of networks to task on the biggest problems in healthcare – announces NorthShore University HealthSystem, a not-for-profit healthcare delivery system serving the Chicago region, has joined the growing AVIA Innovator Network.
Recently named to the 2014 InformationWeek Elite 100, a list of the top business technology innovators in the United States, NorthShore was one of just 15 hospitals or health systems nationally to make the list, which includes leading companies in fields ranging from manufacturing to information technology to banking and financial services.
“NorthShore’s status as a HIMSS stage 7 organization allows them to think beyond IT implementation and focus their efforts on the applications of digitally-enabled solutions,” says Darren Dworkin, Cedar Sinai Health System’s Chief Information Officer and AVIA Executive-in-Residence.
Patient experience, widely understood to be critical to health organizations’ success, will be the initial focal point of the partnership between AVIA and NorthShore. “We are excited to work with AVIA as NorthShore continues to utilize new technologies to enhance the patient experience across our system,” said J.P. Gallagher, NorthShore’s Chief Operating Officer.
Given its importance, AVIA will also be making patient experience the focus of an upcoming Innovation Cohort, which will launch in October. The influx of solutions coming into the market that address patient experience is overwhelming. AVIA will do the legwork of behalf of cohort participants to identify leading solutions.
AVIA will also be supporting internal innovation efforts at NorthShore by evaluating the commercialization potential of internally-developed innovation initiatives. AVIA will leverage their solutions landscape knowledge and their proprietary innovation evaluation tools as part of the partnership.
