AVIA – an organization dedicated to helping healthcare providers select and implement emerging tech-enabled solutions – announced its partnership with Saint Francis Care, an integrated healthcare delivery system in Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to being the largest independent Catholic healthcare provider in New England, they are also home to the Connecticut Institute for Primary Care Innovation (CIPCI), a collaborative venture between Saint Francis Care and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
“Saint Francis Care is an ideal addition to AVIA’s Innovation Network,” said AVIA advisor, Lyle Berkowitz, MD. “Their executive team is truly committed to developing new models of care and transforming the healthcare delivery system.”
Saint Francis Care’s efforts were recently recognized on the national level by the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers, as the 2014 recipient of the Alliance Innovation Award.
“The impact of our partnership with AVIA will be felt immediately,” said Gregory Makoul, Ph.D., Chief Innovation Officer for Saint Francis Care. “We are very excited to have found an innovation partner who will help us develop solutions that best match patient and provider needs, with opportunities to co-develop and co-invest as appropriate. AVIA has already played a central role in identifying emerging companies that will be part of our Primary Care Office of the Future, launching at CIPCI in mid-May.”
“We are excited to have Saint Francis Care, an organization with such an impressive innovation track-record, join the AVIA Innovator Network,” noted AVIA CEO, Eric Langshur. “Given our provider focus, we’re able to start with Saint Francis’ most pressing priorities and source solutions on their behalf. The fact that we scan the entire marketplace, and are not limited to a specific set of companies, is an advantage of working with AVIA and will enables us to deliver the greatest value to Saint Francis Care and other organizations within our network.”
