Neil Gomes is EVP of Insights and Advisory Services at AVIA, where he leads teams that help health systems drive operational transformation through strategic insights, innovation, and advisory services. His work spans AI readiness, consumer transformation, workforce enablement, and care model innovation.
Prior to AVIA, Neil founded NG Insights, a consultancy focused on business transformation through technology, data, creativity, and design. NG Insights advises organizations on digital strategy, experience design, technology evolution, and innovation.
Neil previously served as SVP and Chief Digital Officer at AmeriHealth Caritas, the nation’s 5th-largest Medicaid insurer with $25B in annual revenue and 5.5M members. He led digital, AI, and analytics initiatives that delivered $1B in value savings in two years, generated $55M in AI-driven efficiencies, and developed a predictive scorecard identifying $240M in Population Health impact.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Neil was System SVP for Digital at CommonSpirit Health – one of the largest US health systems with $33B revenue and 140 hospitals – where he grew virtual visits from 0 to 2.4M in two years, generating $390M in revenue. His teams automated $9B in digital transactions, launched virtual care models that delivered $50M in value, retained $2B+ in inpatient revenue, and secured a $6.1M FCC grant to expand rural digital health access.
At Jefferson Health and Thomas Jefferson University, Neil served as EVP, Enterprise Chief Digital Officer, and founder of the Digital Innovation and Consumer Experience Group. He helped scale the system from $1.2B to $11.2B in just six years by leading enterprise digital transformation and launching AI-enabled, patient-centered platforms and services. He also built global partnerships with organizations such as the World Economic Forum, The White House, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Apple, General Catalyst, and the Government of India, and accelerated $3.5B in digital ventures.
Before digitizing healthcare, Neil helped scale an intrapreneurial startup at the Fortune 500, $400B Tata Group into the world’s largest custom e-learning provider and led digital learning and software teams at the University of South Florida (USF) and USF Health, developing products that generated $360M annually, assisting with the development of the world’s largest medical simulation center, and supporting a $1B philanthropy goal achieved in three years.
A lifelong learner, Neil holds an Executive MBA from Brown and IE Business School, an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from USF, and an MMS/MBA and BS in Physics. He is ABD on his Ph.D. and has completed certifications from Harvard, Wharton, MIT, and IDEO U in AI, big data, design, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. A three-time CIO100 winner, Neil has spoken globally at CES, TEDx, MWC, HIMSS, the World Economic Forum and other events. He serves on advisory boards for Adobe, AT&T, IBM, and others and is a member of the Forbes Tech. Council, Gartner Research Board, ΦKΦ & ΒΓΣ honor societies, and Mensa. Outside of work, he is an inventor, musician, author, and community-builder dedicated to using technology and creativity to drive meaningful change.
