AVIA – the innovation accelerator for healthcare providers – announced today that it welcomes The Innovation Learning Network (ILN) – an organizational-based membership network with a mission to make healthcare better through good design – to its growing roster of subject matter experts helping providers build their innovation capacity and skill.
AVIA and ILN officially announced their partnership today, however the collaboration between the two organizations began almost a year ago with shared activities on global innovation sourcing, led by ILN and AVIA member Molly Coye from UCLA. The partnership will grow in 2014 and harness the respective strengths of each organization.
“There’s no question that ILN’s area of expertise including design/innovation methodologies will be of untold value for healthcare providers as they begin tapping into the external market place for emerging solutions,” said Leslie Wainwright, Chief Strategy Officer at AVIA. “It has been a pleasure working with ILN and we look forward to a stronger collaboration.”
According to AVIA and HIMMS joint 2013 Healthcare Provider Innovation Survey, 65% of providers rely on internal staff networks as their main innovation resource, creating a widespread need for innovation accelerators like AVIA to provide experts like ILN to organizations seeking to create a culture of innovation in their facilities.
“Our specialty is in bringing together the most innovative healthcare organizations to explore how innovation and design can revolutionize the industry,” said Chris McCarthy, Director of ILN. “Our goal is to foster discussion on the methods and application of design, ignite the transfer of ideas, and provide opportunities for inter- organizational collaboration. We feel that fits perfectly with how AVIA supports its network of healthcare providers.”
